We were proud to represent Millfield Auto Parts at the City of Peterborough Academy Careers Fair on Tuesday 7th October 2025. Our team had the pleasure of meeting enthusiastic Year 10 and Year 11 students who were eager to learn about the automotive aftermarket, the technology behind parts supply, and the exciting career paths available within our industry. It was a day filled with curiosity, great conversations, and inspiration for the next generation of automotive professionals.
On Tuesday 7th October 2025, the Millfield Auto Parts team attended the City of Peterborough Academy Careers Fair. It was a fantastic opportunity to meet enthusiastic Year 10 and Year 11 students and introduce them to the world of automotive parts supply, systems, and e-commerce. The students showed great curiosity and asked insightful questions about how we keep the right parts moving every day across Peterborough and beyond.
Our stand and setup
What we shared with students
- Hands-on parts display: Students could handle real components including alternators, batteries, starter motors and spark plugs, learning how each plays a vital role in a vehicle’s operation.
- Spot-the-part quiz: A light-hearted challenge to identify different components and their functions.
- System demo: We showcased our reg lookup and OEM cross-reference tools that ensure right-first-time supply every time.
- Website walkthrough: Students explored our millfieldautoparts.co.uk website, learning how e-commerce supports modern automotive retail.
- Number plate demo: We explained how number plates are made, the legal requirements, and what documents are needed in-store.
The Parts Advisor pathway
We introduced our upcoming Parts Advisor course, a programme we are developing to help students start their journey in the automotive aftermarket. The course will combine technical training with real-world experience, teaching:
- Customer service and communication — understanding customer needs and offering solutions.
- Parts identification and data handling — using catalogues, reg lookups, and compatibility data.
- Warehouse operations — order accuracy, stock management and teamwork.
- Digital and e-commerce tools — supporting online customers and product listings.
Work experience opportunities
Students interested in real-world exposure can join us for a supervised placement to experience the full journey of an automotive part from enquiry to dispatch:
- Customer enquiry — receiving and recording details accurately.
- Parts lookup — matching parts using registration or VIN.
- Warehouse picking — learning about stock control and fulfilment.
- Dispatch — understanding order prep and packaging (students observe only for safety).
