On Friday 26 September 2025 we visited St John Fisher Catholic High School for its Careers Fair to show how the motor aftermarket works in practice. We brought real components for a quick “spot-the-part” challenge, walked students through our parts-matching process (OEM cross-references, reg lookups and interchange), and demoed our website and its features—including how it was built. We also explained our work-experience pathway from customer call to pick, pack and dispatch.
On Friday 26 September 2025 we were delighted to attend the St John Fisher Catholic High School Careers Fair. It was an amazing experience for our team—we really enjoyed speaking with so many curious students about what we do, from right-first-time parts identification to the systems and people behind every order.

What we shared with students
- Show & tell parts: real components (filters, ignition, braking and service items) to handle and compare.
- Spot-the-part quiz: a fun knowledge check on component names, functions and where they fit.
- How our systems work: a walkthrough of reg lookups, OEM cross-references and interchange to achieve right-first-time supply.
- Website tour: search, fitment info and account features—plus a look at how the site was made to be fast and user-friendly.
- Number plate machine: we brought our plate-making kit to show how plates are produced and to make show plates for demonstration. We also explained the legal requirements for road plates and the documents needed in-store.
From enquiry to dispatch — what students can do on work experience
We mapped the journey a part takes through Millfield Auto Parts and highlighted the tasks a supervised student placement can get hands-on with:
- Customer rings or orders online — recording the reg, VIN or OEM number and confirming the request.
- Parts identification — assisting with catalogue lookups and cross-referencing to confirm compatibility.
- Warehouse pick — helping locate items, scan picks and complete quality checks.
- Dispatch — preparing paperwork and packing for our delivery team.
Safeguarding: students do not travel in our vans; we simply explain and observe the final hand-off step.
Routes into the trade
- Counter & customer service — problem solving and parts knowledge.
- Warehouse & logistics — accuracy, organisation and time management.
- Technical support — data literacy, catalogues and diagnostics basics.
- Digital & e-commerce — content, fitment data and customer experience.
Our thanks
A huge thank you to St John Fisher Catholic High School—and especially the staff team who organised the fair and supported our setup. We really enjoyed talking to every student who stopped by to learn about the aftermarket.
